ARLINGTON, TEXAS - Tigers left fielder Delmon Young, one of the heroes of the ALDS, was ruled out of the AL Championship Series against the Rangers because of an oblique injury.

The injury, which occurred Thursday night in New York, is on the left side of Young's abdomen. He missed 19 games with the same injury earlier this season while with the Twins.

Manager Jim Leyland said that even though an MRI "doesn't show anything real significant," the Tigers were taking no chances. "I learned a long time ago when the word oblique is mentioned, I get nervous. ... I've never seen an oblique all right in a day or two," Leyland said.

Infielder Danny Worth took Young's spot on the roster, Ryan Raburn started in left field in Game 1 on Saturday night, and Miguel Cabrera moved up from the No. 4 spot in the order to Young's No. 3 spot. Victor Martinez moved up from No. 5 to No. 4.
