The two people shot in a Brooklyn Park home early Saturday have been identified.

Regina O'Neal, 35, was wounded after she called police about a domestic dispute. She was listed in critical condition Monday afternoon at North Memorial Medical Center in Robbinsdale, a spokesman said.

Her longtime boyfriend, Edward B. Drucker, 34, died of a self-inflicted gunshot wound to the neck and head, the Hennepin County medical examiner ruled. Police believe he shot O'Neal, who was found in their home in a duplex in the 7900 block of Kyle Avenue N. about 2:30 a.m. Saturday.

O'Neal told police that a man with a gun was in the house. A neighbor said earlier that the couple came home from a nightclub that night and got into a fight.

Officers found the woman in a basement bedroom and the man upstairs. Also home were five children, ranging from an infant to a 15-year-old. They were taken to a safe location, police said.

As an eviction crisis has seemed increasingly likely this summer, everyone in the housing market has made the same plea to Washington: Send money — lots of it — that would keep renters in their homes and landlords afloat.
