Design show
Where can you find Stickley and Eames furniture under one roof? At "From Mission to Modern," the 20th Century Design Show and Sale (formerly the Twin Cities Arts & Crafts Show). After 17 years, the show has a new name to reflect its broader focus. "We expanded it to include all of the 20th century," said organizer Cameron Quintal, including Art Moderne, Art Deco and midcentury modern.
You'll still find original and high-quality reproductions of furniture, metalwork, pottery, textiles, art and lighting from more than 40 vendors. Many of the nation's leading dealers will be on hand to answer questions and to offer suggestions on how to decorate with period furnishings and accessories.
This year, visitors can have an "Antiques Roadshow" experience, as well. David Rago, an appraiser on the popular PBS series, will offer individual verbal appraisals in his booth throughout the two-day show, for a fee of $10 per item, or $25 for three items. (Proceeds will be donated to local charities.) Appraisals are limited to items from the 20th century.
The show is from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sept. 24 and 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sept. 25 at the Minnesota State Fairgrounds Progress Center Building. Admission is $7. For more information, visit tc20design.com.
