Appalachian Spring Break

Friday-Saturday: This isn't your mother's "Appalachian Spring." Riffing off the sacred cows of modern dance and contemporary music, choreographer Scotty Heron and composer Brendan Connelly, fresh from a residency at the Contemporary Art Center in New Orleans, show off the fruits of their first collaboration with a re-imagining of Martha Graham and Aaron Copland's seminal collaboration, which premiered in 1944. "Appalachian Spring Break" comes stocked with adult diapers, fake eyelashes and a dash of Ken Burns, along with elements of Kabuki theater. Bessie Award winner Heron and Obie Award winner Connelly, playing two nerdy clarinet players whose instruments are taped to microphones connected to guitar pedals, spring up an experimental evening of performance. (7 p.m. Fri. & Sat., Bryant-Lake Bowl, 810 W. Lake St., Mpls. $10-15. 612-825-8949, bryantlakebowl.com.)
