He may be governor but Mark Dayton still fears offending folks.

In an email, DFLer Dayton told a staffer that they should hire a St. Paul Mayor Chris Coleman staffer but added "Chris Coleman will be furious at my taking another one of his people. Let's discuss tomorrow how best to inform him."

The April 3rd email was obtained by the Star Tribune.

The staffer in question: Keith Hovis, a communications specialist. He will replace Jeremy Drucker in the governor's office. Drucker will be moving to the Department of Human Services in May.

However Coleman, also a DFLer, was informed it seemed to work.

"Mayor Coleman is happy to send staff to help Gov. Mark Dayton pass a balanced budget, protect taxpayers and save St. Paul's (local government aid)," Coleman spokesman Richard Carlbom told the Star Tribune.

Carlbom has been a beneficiary of Dayton's staffer stealing. He got his job when Bob Hume left Coleman's employ to work for Dayton.

As an eviction crisis has seemed increasingly likely this summer, everyone in the housing market has made the same plea to Washington: Send money — lots of it — that would keep renters in their homes and landlords afloat.
