February 8, 2010 at 1:25PM

Moderate to heavily falling snow is still impacting a decent-sized swath of thesouthern Plains into the Mississippi Valley, spanning Wichita, Kansas City andSt. Louis. Winds will be picking up through tonight, creating some blowing anddrifting of snow. Travel will be slow to dangerous along I-35, I-44 and I-70 aswell as other highways and secondary roads across this zone.Meanwhile, some sleet will mix in to create messy travel conditions over asmall corridor across Oklahoma and northern Arkansas. Little Rock is among thecities that will get some sleet and snow in the morning, perhaps causing atricky morning commute.

A bone-chilling, soaking rain will fall farther south in places likeDallas.

A few isolated, but damaging storms could erupt by the evening over central andcoastal areas of Texas. Damaging winds and a tornado cannot be ruled out inthis zone.
