A behind-the-scenes book about the history and construction of U.S. Bank Stadium will be available for pre-sale Thursday.

The Vikings and the Minnesota Historical Society Press teamed up to publish the 224-page book on the largest public-private project in state history.

It will provide a "comprehensive inside look" at its design and construction as well as its "complicated and controversial history and path to approval," according to a news release from the Vikings and the publisher.

The book will be available Nov. 1 and can be preordered beginning Thursday through online retailers, the team and the publisher. The price is $29.95.

The book includes profiles of central figures on the project, from engineers and groundskeepers to players and fans. Illustrations include design renderings and plans as well as photos from groundbreaking to topping out and ribbon cutting ceremonies.

"The stadium is an important part of our Twin Cities' shared history, not only for the many sports and music fans who will celebrate it, but for all those interested in how major public projects like this come together and get built," said Pamela McClanahan, director of MNHS Press.

Former Star Tribune reporter and editorial writer Steve Berg, who has observed the project's progress, is the author.
