Fresh Ink

Opens Thursday: The Illusion kicks off its 30th annual Fresh Ink workshop with a new play by the clever playwright and screenwriter Jeffrey Hatcher. "Strongman's Ghost" orbits a Great Leader whose ideas of himself and his world diverge sharply from reality. In the play, the leader's mistress has just left him and his aides are plotting a coup. But he has other priorities, including finishing the last installment of a self-glorifying epic. Longtime Hatcher collaborator Michael Robins directs this production with actors Bill Corbett, Patrick Coyle, J.C. Cutler and Bob Davis. (7:30 p.m. Thu.-next Fri.-Sun., Illusion Theater, 528 Hennepin Av. S., Mpls. 612-339-4944 or illusiontheater.org.)
