Il Gatto opens tonight

Just two months after closing Figlio, local restaurant giant, Parasole, is ready to unveil its successor – Il Gatto. (That's "The Cat" in Italian.) Meow!

The cat's out of the bag. When parent company Parasole closed Figlio two months ago, the restaurant giant (Manny's, Chino Latino, Burger Jones and others) promised a worthy successor to the Uptown icon. The public will get its first look when Il Gatto (Italian for "The Cat") opens tonight in Calhoun Square.

The Parasole folks say this isn't Figlio 2.0. The restaurant (and sure-to-be nightlife hot spot) will specialize in "Uptown Italian" and sports a whole new look. From today's press release, it sounds like Il Gatto will have a greater emphasis on small plates, seafood and big glasses of wine. There's also a daily $3 happy hour (plus late-night Sun.-Thu.).

Good news for hungry Uptown bargoers: The kitchen will stay open until 1 a.m. Sun.-Thu. and 2 a.m. Fri. and Sat.
