If you go to Canada

Passport needed

When heading to Canada, you'll need a passport to re-enter the United States. Be sure you're up to speed on all the border requirements.

Study up on regulations

If you think Minnesota's fishing regulations are complex, wait until you see Ontario's. Check them carefully for your location and for lake-specific exceptions to general fishing regulations. Where we fished, the bag limit was two lake trout for a regular nonresident license and one fish for a conservation license. A regular full-season license was about $77.

Myriad resorts

The Nestor Falls-Sioux Narrows-Kenora area of Ontario has an endless number of resorts and lakes that offer a variety of wilderness fishing experiences. See www.kenora.ca/portal/tourism/plan/stay.aspx?id=3534.
