The drivers who died when their cars collided head-on near their hometown of Ely, Minn., have been identified.
Killed late Thursday afternoon on Hwy. 1/169, west of Ely, were Larry J. Karsten, 57, and Carmen J. Berrini, 28, the State Patrol said Friday.
Karsten was driving east, when he crossed the center line on the wet, two-lane highway and collided head-on with Berrini's Cadillac, the patrol said.
A 29-year-old Ely woman in the Cadillac, Casey Moravitz, was taken to Ely-Bloomenson Community Hospital, treated and released.
