November 7, 2016 at 5:49PM

An ATV crash that occurred after dark north of Grand Forks killed the rider, authorities said Sunday.

The wreck occurred about 7:15 p.m. Saturday on a road running parallel to Interstate 29, about 30 miles north of Grand Forks, according to the North Dakota Highway Patrol.

The victim was identified as Gail Marie Osowski, 61, from rural Grafton, N.D. The patrol said she was not wearing a helmet.

The ATV operator was heading north on 159th Avenue NE., about 8 miles southeast of Grafton, and "for reasons unknown … made an abrupt left turn … and lost control," a patrol statement read.

The vehicle spun, went into a ditch to the left of the road and rolled over, the patrol added. The woman was dead at the scene.
