A pickup truck fatally struck a man crossing in the middle of a dark and rain-slickened highway in the southwest metro, authorities said Sunday.

The crash occurred about 10:10 p.m. Saturday along Hwy. 13 in Prior Lake, according to the State Patrol.

Travis D. Peterson, 23, from Prior Lake, was taken to Hennepin County Medical Center and died there, the patrol said, adding that it appears that he had been drinking.

With Peterson were two other men, both 23 and from Savage, who also had been drinking, the patrol said. They were not hurt. They were identified as Joshua C. Dinndorf and Matthew Sutherland.

The driver of the pickup, 56-year-old William Sheryak of Richfield, Ohio, was not hurt. He was not under the influence of alcohol at the time of the crash, the patrol said.
