ID'd: Driver who died while avoiding deer on I-35

Authorities on Thursday identified the pickup truck driver who died after he swerved to avoid a deer north of North Branch, Minn., crashed and was thrown from his vehicle into the path of another car.

Joseph A. Kelley, 29, of Harris, Minn., was dead at the scene of Wednesday's crash shortly before 5:30 a.m. on slick Interstate 35. Kelley was not wearing a seat belt, according to the State Patrol.

Kelley was southbound on I-35 when he dodged the deer, drove into the median and rolled his pickup. He was flung into the northbound lanes and hit by a car, the patrol said.
