April 29, 2011 at 3:31AM

The northbound lanes of Interstate 35W were closed at 98th Street in Bloomington Thursday night after a person jumped from an overpass onto the freeway, the Minnesota State Patrol said.

The incident happened at 9:26 p.m.; northbound cars were being detoured off the freeway at 106th Street, said patrol spokesman Lt. Eric Roeske. He did not have information on the gender, identity or condition of the person who jumped.

The incident came on the heels of two other major accidents on metro area freeways, Roeske said.

At 9:17 p.m., a car rolled over on Highway 280 at Energy Park Drive in St. Paul and plunged into a pond, he said. One person was briefly trapped in the car, then extricated; further details were not available about that person's condition.

At 9:23 p.m., a person who had gotten out of a stalled car on Highway 61 at Burns Avenue in St. Paul was hit by another car, Roeske said. The victim was conscious and breathing when transported by ambulance to a hospital.
