The second-best national holiday for music lovers – second, at least, for those of us who also celebrate Doug Sahm Day -- Record Store Day is coming up April 21, one week from Saturday. It looks like it's going to be another action-packed day locally, too. There will be the usual, massive stockpile of limited-edition releases. That will include a new all-Minnesotan vinyl compilation from local manufacturer Noiseland Industries called "American Buffalo," featuring Trampled by Turtles, Doomtree, Polica, the 4onthefloor, Charlie Parr, Caroline Smith and many more.

And then there's the non-recorded music. The biggest roundup of live performances is happening at Hymie's, which is hosting another block party with two stages and a way-cool lineup of bands. The Minneapolis Electric Fetus and Fifth Element also have in-stores all day. Here's an early look at those lineups. Look for a bigger roundup with more stores next week.

HYMIE'S: Outside stage: Brian Just Band (11 a.m.), Big Quarters(12:15 p.m.), Liminal Phase (1:30), Buffalo Moon (3), White Whales (4:30), plus promised "extra special surprise guests" (6) / Indoor stage: Pocahontas County (11 a.m.), the Cactus Blossoms (12:30 p.m.), the Ericksons (2:15), Ben Weaver (3:45), Martin Devaney (5), the Annandale Cardinals (6:15) / Afterparty (inside stage): Is/Is (7 p.m.), the Goondas (8).

ELECTRIC FETUS (Minneapolis): In-store sets by the Secret Stash Records crew (10 a.m.), Heartbeats (11), Erik Koskinen (noon), Malamanya (1 p.m.), Nightinghales (2), Howler (3), Eric Hutchinson (4).

FIFTH ELEMENT: A "Lavabangers" set by Lazerbeak with Plain Ole Bill, plus performances throughout the day by MaLLy, Auddio Draggon and Bill's Get Cryphy cohorts Jimmy 2 Times, Fundo and Last Word. Set times TBA.

As an eviction crisis has seemed increasingly likely this summer, everyone in the housing market has made the same plea to Washington: Send money — lots of it — that would keep renters in their homes and landlords afloat.
