Hwy. 8 reopens after mudslide in Chisago County

March 12, 2010 at 4:56AM

A highway lane in Chisago County reopened Thursday night, about three hours after it was closed by a mudslide.

The slide happened about 6:15 p.m. on southbound Hwy. 8 near Valley View Lane, southwest of Taylors Falls. The lane reopened about 9:25 p.m., according to the State Patrol.

Even when the lane was closed, traffic was able to move in both directions, said Lt. Eric Roeske of the State Patrol.

The Minnesota Department of Transportation cleared the slide and was planning to monitor the area through the night.
