Two drivers were killed in a head-on crash that closed Hwy. 55 for several hours Thursday morning.
The crash at 6:50 a.m. at County Road 19 west of Medina in western Hennepin County had traffic blocked in both directions on the well-traveled highway, authorities said.
Corcoran police officers located the victims, and both were declared dead at the scene despite lifesaving efforts, police said.
Authorities have yet to release the drivers' identities.
The westbound side of the highway was closed starting at Pioneer Trail, while the eastbound side was closed starting at County Road 19, according to the Minnesota Department of Transportation.
