One of the south metro's busiest river crossings could reopen Tuesday.
Minnesota Department of Transportation spokesman J.P. Gillach said the agency hopes to reopen the Hwy. 41 river crossing on Tuesday, but he declined to provide further details and said the decision isn't final.
Hwy. 41, which connects Chaska and Scott County, closed March 23. The crossing carries about 14,000 cars a day.
Scott County Emergency Management Director Chris Weldon said he heard from the state that the crossing could reopen before the morning rush hour.
"What they have told us is that the water's off the roadway, and they are going to be making repairs today," he said.
Weldon said he is a little bit leery about the bridge opening so soon. "If we get a second crest, it's going to close again depending on how high this second crest is."
