February 22, 2011 at 3:34AM

Eastbound lanes of Hwy. 36 and Rice Street in Little Canada and Roseville will be closed at times overnight from Wednesday through early Saturday as construction crews continue to set beams in place for ramps and a new bridge over the highway, according to the Minnesota Department of Transportation.

WHY: The work is part of the replacement project of the aging Rice Street bridge and construction of a new interchange. The project is expected to be complete in November.

LANE CLOSURES: At 8 p.m. Wednesday and Friday, the right lane of eastbound Hwy. 36 will close, and the ramp from Rice Street to eastbound Hwy. 36 will close at 9 p.m. All lanes of eastbound 36 will close for up to 15-minute intervals starting at 11 p.m.

At 8:30 p.m. Thursday, the left lane of eastbound Hwy. 36 will be closed, and Rice Street will be closed at 9 p.m. All lanes of eastbound Hwy. 36 at Rice Street close at 10 p.m.

Hwy. 36 and Rice Street will reopen to traffic at 5 a.m. Thursday and Friday and at 8 a.m. Saturday.

EXPECT DELAYS: Motorists may encounter congestion and delays and are advised to use alternate routes. Otherwise, follow posted detours.

Poor weather would change the scheduled work.
