Hurricane Henriette is getting smaller in the Pacific, is expected to weaken

MIAMI — Hurricane Henriette is getting smaller as it moves across the Pacific and is forecast to begin weakening.

The hurricane's maximum sustained winds early Thursday are near 85 mph (140 kph). The U.S. National Hurricane Center says weakening is forecast over the next two days and Henriette could weaken to a tropical storm by Thursday night.

The storm is centered about 1,170 miles (1,885 kilometers) east of Hilo, Hawaii, and is moving west-northwest near 9 mph (15 kph).
