Thirty percent of American families—almost 50 million people—that don't know where their next meal is coming from. That epidemic of food insecurity is the focus of "A Place at the Table," the kickoff feature of the 2012 Twin Cities Film Fest. The documentary, featuring Jeff Bridges, opens the nine-day festival on Friday, Oct. 12 at 8:30pm at Kerasotes ShowPlace ICON in St Louis Park.

The screening will be linked to two food and wine tasting experiences Oct. 18 and 19, with half of the proceeds from these events to benefit three local food shelf charities: Second Harvest Heartland, Emergency Food Shelf Network and STEP SLP.

The complete TCFF film schedule will be released next week with tickets to all shows and events available online beginning Sept. 19. For more information, visit www.twincitiesfilmfest.org. Information on the charities can be found at www.2harvest.org, www.emergencyfoodshelf.org, and www.stepslp.org.
