During earlier stretches of summerlike weather in the Northeast this year,humidity remained low. That will not be the case this weekend as higherhumidity accompanies a new surge of warmth into the region.Unseasonably warm air will get pumped into the Northeast this weekend with anarea of high pressure situated off the Southeast coast. Temperatures will soarinto the 80s each day as far north as central New England. Temperatures willeven crack the 90-degree mark from Richmond to Washington, D.C., toPhiladelphia.
Many places will challenge record highs one or both days of the weekend.
This weekend will truly give residents an early taste of summer not onlybecause of the warm temperatures, but also because humidity will be on therise. The air will turn more humid across the mid-Atlantic on Saturday, thennorthward to central New England on Sunday.
The combination of the warmth and humid air could cause some discomfort toresidents and visitors. The air may feel uncomfortable just because this is thefirst surge of humid air of the year.
