How you can become a trolley driver

May 25, 2016 at 4:08PM

The Minnesota Streetcar Museum is always looking for volunteer operators for its trolleys at Lake Harriet and in Excelsior. Training consists of approximately six hours of classroom work and about 15 hours of hands-on driving instruction.

New operator classes are offered once a year in the spring, before the annual operating season begins. Volunteers also are welcome in the shop, where the streetcars are maintained and repaired. The museum also uses volunteer station agents to sell tickets and merchandise. For more information on volunteering as an operator, maintenance worker or station agent, visit trolleyride.org.
