How Much Rain to Expect

December 17, 2009 at 1:25PM

A storm system will deluge the Gulf and Southeast coasts with rain today andFriday as it sweeps through. By Friday, up to an inch of rain will soak an areafrom southern Louisiana to Florida on northward into eastern Tennessee andparts of North Carolina. However, over the next couple of days, the heaviest rain will inundate a swathfrom southeastern Louisiana into southern South Carolina. Up to 3 inches ofrain, with locally higher amounts, is expected in this area.

Recent rainfall in the Southeast has already sent some waterways over theirbanks. Any additional downpours could aggravate existing flooding or even causenew flooding problems.
