How Long the Heat Will Last

The warmth overspreading the Northeast this weekend will give the region apreview of summer, but not mark the beginning of the hottest season. The returnof more comfortable air is in sight.After undergoing noticeable warming today, temperatures will soar into the80s throughout the Northeast Saturday. Similar temperatures will continue tobake most of the region Sunday into Monday. A cold front, however, will sweepthe warmth out of upstate New York and northern New England Sunday. The coolerair will press into southeastern New England Monday.

Any relief from the summerlike warmth will be brief. The day aftertemperatures cool, warmer air will surge back in. However, the passage of acold front may likely return more comfortable air to the Northeast byWednesday.
