Taylor, I'mma let you finish, but Selena Gomez has the most Instagram followers OF ALL TIME. Yep, this week a tectonic shift reverberated through the social media world as armies of young, finger-tapping users catapulted the starlet past previous Insta-queen T-Swift. At press time, Gomez's account on the photo-sharing network stood at a gargantuan 70 million followers. Suffice it to say, she's come a long way since "Barney & Friends."

Yes, the former kid actor posts plenty of pics of her very adult, very scantily clad pop life. But! There also are plenty of I'm-just-like-you moments. And Instagrammers looooove seeing their fave celebs slumming it. Exhibit A: The time Gomez ate McDonald's fries backstage (with a fry hanging out of her mouth, no less!). The result: 1.7 million "likes." Most of us are happy if we get 20 likes on a stupid cat photo.

Just spitballing here, but Gomez's ascension to Master of the Instagram Universe most likely has something to do with the fact that she's besties with former boss of all bosses, Swift. They love taking photos of each other. And tween fans love seeing the love. You know how they could get even bigger, though? Insta-beef. Frenemies. Think about it. Maybe Kanye could help with this.
