The back-and-forth over Gov. Mark Dayton's $800,000 in annual raises for his commissioners continued Wednesday whe Republican chairwoman of House State Government Finance Committee reiterated her invitation to Dayton to testify.

The letter from Rep. Sarah Anderson, R-Plymouth, is the most recent public correspondence in the debate over Dayton's raises for his commissioners. Republicans cried foul over the raises, while Dayton maintained they were necessary to keep top talent in Minnesota.

Anderson first invited Dayton to testify Tuesday. In his response, Dayton instead invited Anderson and other GOP lawmakers to discuss the salaries in a forum open to the press.

Anderson's Wednesday response focused on the importance of public input.

"As I stated, many Minnesotans have expressed concerns over your commisioners' pay raises and this would be a chance for the Legislature and public to better understand your reasoning," she wrote. "To that end, your suggestion that you host a meeting with you, other legislators and members of the press overlooks one of the main points of contention: the public has been excluded thus far."

Anderson also invited Lt. Gov. Tina Smith to testify in his place. Read the letter here:
