Hourcar has grown its fleet to 73 vehicles and that's allowing the car sharing program to serve more Minneapolis neighborhoods.
Starting June 20, Hourcar is beefing up its presence along and near the new Green Line and along the Lake Street corridor. More vehicles also will be available at hubs in northeast Minneapolis, said spokesman Chris Bineham.
Here is where you'll find new places to use everything from a Honda Fit to a Mazda 5 to a Ford Ranger to a Toyota Tacoma.
Near the Green Line
- Seven Corners Apartments in south Minneapolis
- 29th and and University Avs. SE in the Prospect Park neighborhood of Minneapolis
- The former St. Paul Public Library building at Lexington and University Avenues in St. Paul
- Frogtown Square at 500 N. Dale Street in St. Paul.
Along the Lake Street corridor
- Plaza Verde, 1516 E. Lake Street in Minneapolis, that's Lake Street and Bloomington Avenue.
- Lake Street and Hiawatha Avenue
Northeast Minneapolis
- Eastside Food Co-op, 2535 Central Avenue NE.
- Northeast Home Group in Windom Park, 1955 NE. Johnson Street
Hourcar is using a grant from the McKnight Foundation and the Central Corridor Funders Collaborative to buy the vehicles and open the stations where they will be parked.
Hourcar members pay a monthly membership of $5 to $15, along with a $6 to $8 hourly rate and 25 cents a mile depending on the type of membership. Daily rates also are available. Vehicles are available 24 hours. There is a one-time $50 application fee to become a new member.
