Details: St. Louis-based hotelier Midas Hospitality is adding to the development activity along Brooklyn Park's Hwy. 610 corridor with Midas Station, a mixed-use, hotel-retail project set to begin construction in spring.

Midas Hospitality co-founder J.T. Norville told city officials the hotels will cost $30 million to construct and are aimed at the corporate travel business generated by employers in the Hwy. 610 area, such as Target and Olympus Surgical Technologies. The site is also adjacent to CSM Corp.'s 610 Commerce Center business park.

Norville said the usual architectural template of the Hampton Inn brand has been upgraded to be more compatible with the higher standards of Home 2 Suites, including the use of fiber-cement siding panels rather than lower-cost stucco.

A second phase calls for free-standing retail buildings, but no timeline was submitted for that.
