Address: 5075 Wayzata Blvd., St. Louis Park
Developer: TPI Hospitality
Rooms: 126
Architect: Cities Edge Architects
Details: The Central Park West mixed-use redevelopment project, which straddles the border of St. Louis Park and Golden Valley, is poised to land an AC Hotel by Marriott under plans submitted by TPI Hospitality and Cities Edge Architects, both of Willmar, Minn.
The 126-room hotel would be the third phase of the 14-acre Central Park West planned unit development, adjacent to the Shops at West End at the Interstate 394-Hwy. 100 interchange. Phase I is a 199-unit luxury apartment building, now under construction by master developer DLC Residential. Phase II is a 164-unit building from DLC, scheduled to get underway this year.
Because of an unusual boundary, the new hotel would be in St. Louis Park while its parking lot would be in Golden Valley. Each city’s planning commission has recommended approval.
Marriott is rolling out AC Hotels in the U.S. after establishing the brand in Europe. The line is pitched as “a new breed of lifestyle hotel targeting millennial and business travelers.” Minnesota’s first AC Hotel, under construction in downtown Minneapolis, is expected to open later this year.
Since Marriott allows individual design elements for each hotel, TPI has proposed exterior building materials and architecture that would integrate it into the larger Central Park West development, including manufactured stone and fiber cement consistent with the neighboring apartments.
