Hospitals: nurses dismissed early for lack of work

Allina's Dr. Penny Wheeler responds to reports of nurses being escorted off their shifts.

From early this morning, nurses have been telling stories like this one, from the Pioneer Press's Jeremy Olson:

That's not how the hospitals describe what happened. Late this morning, Penny Wheeler, chief medical officer for Allina Hospitals & Clinics, was asked about reports that nurses were escorted from hospitals well before the 7 a.m. strike hour. She said some nurses were sent home before their shifts ended at 7 a.m. because there was no work for them because of lower-than-expected workloads.
