Honoring the 1987 Twins: The events at Target Field

A series of events honoring the 30th anniversary for the 1987 World Series-winning team is scheduled for the weekend series against Detroit. Here a look at what's on the schedule.

4:30 p.m. Friday:

Tom Kelly statue unveiling. The manager of the 1987 Twins, who was in his first full season of running the team, will become the latest to hgave a statue in his honor on Target Field plaza. Kelly will be the eighth person to be honored with a statue. Here's a list of the others.

During Friday's game:

Special baseballs: Baseballs that clinched the American League West title, the American league Championship Series and the World Series will be on display in the Twins' Digital Clubhouse located near Section 229 in left field. Kelly will throw out the first pitch to current manager Paul Molitor.

Saturday:

Giveaway: The first 10,000 fans will receive a beer stein honoring the 1987 team.

Photo session: Starting at 4:15 p.m., there will be 30-minute photo sessions with members of the 1987 at the Digital Clubhouse, in the Puckett Atrium of the Legends Club and near Gate 29.

See the trophy: The World Series trophy will be on display during the second through fourth innings at the Digital Clubhouse.

Pregame program: The team will be honored with an on-field celebration hosted by Twins' television announcer Dick Bremer. Jeff Reardon will thow out the first pitch to Tim Laudner and the current team will wear 1987 throwback caps.
