"La La Land" is a lovely homage to Hollywood musicals of yore. Emma Stone stars as downtrodden wannabe-actress Mia, who hits a high note when she meets struggling jazz pianist Sebastian, played by Ryan Gosling. He's kind of a jerk, and some ensemble numbers feel more like music videos than cinematic showcases. But the movie manages to avoid the old song and dance with an overall production asthetic that serves as a fitting tribute to classic moviemaking. Tuesday's Blu-ray release includes fine commentary by director Damien Chazelle and composer Justin Hurwitz.

Also out Tuesday

• "Catfight"

• "The Girl With All the Gifts"

• "Detour"

• "Underworld: Blood Wars"
