It’s been 50 years since Mike Connors started playing cool TV detective Joe Mannix. Some of the fashions are dated, but the stories and performances have not lost anything with the passing of time in “Mannix: The Complete Series,” now out on DVD in a 48-disc set (CBS, $127). This was one of the first TV shows that wasn’t afraid to show that a hard-hitting detective could also have a sensitive side. The 194 episodes bring the action, the music and the style of an era back to life.

Coming Tuesday
• “Before I Fall”
• “The Blackcoat’s Daughter”
• “Collide
• “Fist Fight”
• “The Shack”
• “Speed Racer” (full series on Blu-ray)

Movie Review: In 'Poor Things,' Emma Stone takes an unusual path to enlightenment
It is sickly hilarious to make a movie in which so much consensual sex is had, often so gleefully, that is not the least bit sexy. Though Bella Baxter's insatiable libido might be her guiding light at first in ''Poor Things,'' sexual liberation (or ''furious jumping,'' as she calls it) is only part of this fantastical, anarchic journey to consciousness.
