The poorly received debut of the animated "Batman and Harley Quinn" recalls what is arguably the best Batman movie to date. And it's not directed by Tim Burton or Christopher Nolan. It's not even live-action.
It's 1993's animated "Batman: Mask of the Phantasm," new from Warner Archive.
Featuring the voices of Kevin Conroy as Batman and Mark Hamill as the Joker, the dark gem finds the Caped Crusader tracking a cloaked vigilante who's killing aging gangsters. At the same time, Batman's alter-ego, Bruce Wayne, struggles with ghosts from his past and the unexpected return of a lost love.
The Blu-ray offers a choice between theatrical or TV presentations, and nothing else but a trailer. Still, the main feature makes this title an essential addition to any fan's collection.
