Coon Rapids will host a home remodeling tour next month to showcase homeowners who have taken advantage of the city's Home for Generations grant program.

The tour, which will run from noon to 4 p.m. May 18, will feature several homeowners who received city remodeling grants.

The city launched the Home for Generations program in 2009 to entice homeowners to update their homes.

During Phase I, the city bought five older homes typical of Coon Rapids' 1950s, 1960s and 1970s housing stock. The city overhauled the homes and opened them up as models. During Phase 2, the city has offered up to $5,000 for large-scale remodels of $35,000 or more on homes 20 years or older.
