A west metro home health care provider has admitted to cheating Medicaid out of hundreds of thousands of dollars, the U.S. Attorney's office said Tuesday.

Mustafa Hassan Mussa, 56, of Minnetonka, pleaded guilty in federal court in Minneapolis to aggravated identity theft in connection with his scheme while operating Universal Home Health of Golden Valley.

According to the plea agreement:

Mussa admitted that on May 26, 2009, he submitted bogus billings through the Minnesota Department of Human Services, which runs the federal Medicaid program in the state. The false claims were submitted from 2008 to 2010.

So far, the federal government has recouped more than $700,000 in connection with Mussa's prosecution.
