Van Holmgren shot a 3-under-par 69 Wednesday at Hazeltine National Golf Club to win the MGA State Amateur Championship by four shots.

Holmgren, of Baker National Golf Course, opened with a 69 at Hazeltine to share the first-round lead, shot a 73 in Tuesday's second round to fall two shots behind Jesse Bull, and then pulled away on the third day, finishing with a 211 total.

"I was in a zone and I was thinking of fairways, greens and making putts," said Holmgren, the 2017 Class 3A boys' state champion at Wayzata and 2018 Summit League Newcomer of the Year at North Dakota State. "I didn't let much get into my head. … I knew the tournament was mine if I played well and beat the course, and I think I did that."

Bull, of Golden Valley Country Club, slipped to a 75 his last round to tie for second at 215 with Jacques Wilson of Chaska Town Course.
