June 30, 2011: Xcel applies to state officials for a route permit.

June 7-8, 2012: About 360 people attend public hearing about proposed power line.

July 12, 2012: Xcel applies to state officials for certificate of need for project.

March 6-7, 2013: About 200 people attend hearing about need for power line.

May 13, 2013: Gov. Mark Dayton signs bill allowing state approval of power line only if there is no feasible and available alternative with smaller lines.

Nov. 7, 2013: About 300 people attend extra public hearings on need for power line.

Dec. 10, 2013: Xcel asks state regulators for permission to withdraw Hollydale line proposal.

Jan. 29, 2014: Deadline for initial public comments about Xcel's request to withdraw.
