Holiday weekend ends with several deadly crashes

A 29-year-old motorcyclist died Monday after colliding with an SUV in northern Minnesota.

Adam Michalski of Clearwater, Minn., died at the scene on Hwy. 169 north of Garrison, according to the State Patrol. The incident occurred after an SUV headed north collided head-on in the northbound lane with Michalski's southbound motorcycle.

The SUV driver, Julie Comer, 36, of Blaine, and five passengers were injured. All the SUV riders were wearing seat belts; Michalski didn't have a helmet, the State Patrol said.

The death came after a motorcycle passenger was killed Saturday after a car collided with two motorcycles on Hwy. 120 in Oakdale. Then on Sunday, a motorcycle driver died after crashing into construction equipment in a closed-off construction zone near state Hwys. 95 and 36 in Washington County, the State Patrol said; Edward Werbachowski, 39, of Brooklyn Park, died at the scene.

Also Sunday, a two-vehicle crash in east-central Minnesota killed a 79-year-old passenger and injured her husband. The crash occurred midafternoon Sunday at Hwy. 169 and Mille Lacs County Road 11. Killed was Madeline Dombrovski, of St. Cloud. Her husband, Kenneth Dombrovski, 81, was seriously injured. Three people in the other vehicle were injured. No alcohol use is suspected.
