Hopkins police officers Greg Pilon and Stefanie Dressen bagged gifts that Hopkins junior high students Sarah Nelson and Thomas Syvertsen bought for their families with $100 gift cards donated by Target.

It was part of the Heroes & Helpers program that the retailer hosted with Hopkins police on Tuesday for 20 students from the Hopkins district.

After shopping for their families at the Target store in St. Louis Park, the students were given donated $50 gift cards so they could shop for themselves.

About 15 Hopkins police and fire personnel participated in the event, which pairs officers with community youth.
