Happy New Year! Sorry for the delay in writing. I have been very busy spending lots of time in a hockey rink of course!

A day after Christmas, 55 of the top female hockey players in the U.S. gathered in Blaine, Minnesota for our annual "Holiday Camp." Do not let the name fool you though; there are no secret Santa exchanges or organized team bonding activities. This "Holiday Camp" was six grueling days of practices, on and off ice testing and inter-squad scrimmages. Let me just add you would not have any energy for a team activity, it is pretty much as the saying goes: "eat, sleep and play hockey." But, there is nothing else I would rather be doing!

All in all, camp went great and I enjoyed seeing a lot of the teammates again. Also, it helps that the team I was on (Team Red) came back from a tough first game loss to then win the next two games to win the Holiday Camp Tournament.

I am now back into the swing of things again and getting into a routine of training in Blaine in the mornings and coaching at the University of Minnesota in the afternoons. The Gophers have begun play for the second part of the season which is sure to be an exciting one, as we are currently ranked #2 in the nation.

2009 is off to a great and busy start!
