The American Swedish Institute is preparing the lights, tinsel and delicate ornaments for the most festive time of the year.

The American Swedish Institute is preparing the lights, tinsel and delicate ornaments for the most festive time of the year. The historic Turnblad mansion is home to a wide variety of activities for families this season. The annual Christmas Fair on Nov. 20 invites children to make arts and crafts and attend Tomte storytime. The ASI Male Chorus will also perform. Give a gingerbread house some Nordic flair on Nov. 28. Learn how Swedes celebrate the coming of Christmas with holiday decorating. Meet Tomte and his elves at Tomtenissenfrukost. Families are served a meal and learn about the Swedish character. Other Swedish-themed events include the history lesson given at "Christmastime in Sweden" and the Nordic Christmas Celebration presents dancing, music and tasty treats.
