Campaign finance reports released Friday show that Minneapolis Mayor Betsy Hodges raised $126,000 from Oct. 23 to the end of the year, the last filing period of the mayoral election.
Just over $69,000 of that came in after the election was over, when Hodges was still scrambling to pay debts. The reports show that the campaign paid off the $40,000 in unpaid bills it had accrued as of the previous filing. Hodges loaned her campaign $21,500, which has yet to be repaid.
Her closest opponent, Mark Andrew, raised just $38,639 in the same filing period. He also loaned his campaign $38,500. The Andrew campaign still has $16,191 in unpaid bills.
The loan leader was Dan Cohen, who invested another $25,000 into his campaign during the last period. That brought his final loan total to $359,000.
