"Hobo with a Shotgun" disappoints a critic

I seem to recall that people were discouraged by "Snakes on a Plane," another movie inspired by its title. This critic laments what could have been:

Because if there's anything that has the promise to force a reevaluation of the things we believe about society, it's Hobo with a Shotgun. The author is probably right about missed opportunities:

Yes. But let's remember it's a movie called Hobo with a Shotgun. No one who goes to see it wants Social Commentary. They want Rutger Hauer shooting everything. Then again, if you look at the trailer, you'll see it's quite a deep, contemplative movie. And realistic, too. Every maternity ward I've ever visited has a bum delivering a soliloquy to the newborns:

Aside from Hauer, and the retro typeface, the best part of the trailer is the 80s-style movie music at the end. Perfect. By the way, the entire movie is based on a fake trailer, which we can't show for NSFW language. This looks better, frankly, unless you're really into that "grindhouse" exploitation cinema. I.e., cheap 'n' bloody.

As an eviction crisis has seemed increasingly likely this summer, everyone in the housing market has made the same plea to Washington: Send money — lots of it — that would keep renters in their homes and landlords afloat.
