A group of co-fellows and I are working on a project for our Humphrey policy fellowship program. We have decided on a project to recommend that HIV/AIDS testing be part of the routine physical examination. We would like to incorporate the thoughts and reactions of the greater community regarding this recommendation.

HIV/AIDS testing is already part of the annual routine test in two states: Illinois and Texas.

Consider the following scenarios:

Scenario one: You are a patient at a family doctor and the nurse lets you know that as part of the routine test, they test your blood for HIV/AIDS. What are your thoughts and reaction?

Scenario two: You are a legislator and you are aware of a bill coming to the house or senate floor regarding making HIV/AIDS testing part of the annual routine physical examination. What are your thoughts and reactions?

Scenario three: You are a caseworker for a health insurance company, and you are aware of a bill being heard on the house floor regarding HIV/AIDS testing becoming part of the annual routine examination. What are your thoughts and reactions?

Please share your viewpoints with us so we can incorporate them in our project for consideration. Email us at HIV.AIDS.POLICY@gmail.com
