Hit-and-run driver seriously injures man in Mankato, remains at large

Authorities on Monday continued their search for a driver and a pickup truck after the motorist ran over a 62-year-old man at night near downtown Mankato.

The incident occurred about 9:15 p.m. Friday at the intersection of N. 2nd and Washington streets, police said.

Police believe the vehicle is a mid-2000s black or dark-colored Ford Ranger or Nissan Frontier pickup with damage to the front grille and headlight areas. The pickup last seen heading south on 2nd toward downtown.

The victim, Todd M. Bauman, of Mankato, suffered severe injuries and was being treated at a Rochester hospital. Police said he was in serious condition Monday.
