An 11-year-old girl was struck and killed Friday night by a hit-and-run driver as she walked along a road in Aitkin County, and the Minnesota State Patrol sought the public's help in locating a vehicle that may be linked to the incident.

The girl, whose name has not been released, was hit just before 8 p.m. on Hwy. 18 about 10 miles from Garrison in the Mille Lacs Lake area, the patrol said.

According to the online PoliceClips site, the vehicle involved did not slow or stop after hitting the girl.

"Investigators would like to talk to the driver of a white Ford pickup pulling a white fifth-wheel camper with black trim who was in the area and may have witnessed the crash," the patrol said in a news release.

Anyone with information is asked to call patrol Lt. Adam Fulton at 218-316-3025.
