Anchor Fish & Chips was a hot Art-a-Whirl spot last year. (The Minnesota Star Tribune)

For better or worse, Art-a-Whirl has turned into a small-scale, even more heavily bearded and beery version of Austin's South by Southwest Music Conference, with a bunch of bands performing at the same time around northeast Minneapolis.

A seasoned vet of either event will tell you it pays to draw up a schedule ahead of time. You know, in case things get a little blurry. Here's my schedule this year, with entirely subjective (but totally awesome!) picks. I listed multiple options during the busiest times in case one venue is too packed.

As an eviction crisis has seemed increasingly likely this summer, everyone in the housing market has made the same plea to Washington: Send money — lots of it — that would keep renters in their homes and landlords afloat.
